POST PROCESSING

$60 Per Hour ($30 Minimum)

In order to keep our 3D print cost down to the absolute minimum, post-processing isn’t included in the 3D print price. Post-processing can make a big difference in the surface finish & includes activities such as trimming away extra plastic with a hobby knife, sanding away layer lines, gluing together parts, & painting. For weekend warriors, this might actually be kind of fun & therapeutic. But we can do a lot of post-processing in a short amount of time if you are in a hurry.

ADDITIONAL 3D PRINTERS

$100 Per Extra Printer

Each new order is assigned its own dedicated 3D printer. But suppose there's a large order consisting of 10 parts & each part takes 20 hours to print. Given that we take weekends off, it would take at least 2 weeks to complete your order (assuming there are no failed prints). One way to dramatically cut down on print time is to spread the order across many printers. Each additional printer would need its own set of materials & calibration tests. But spread over 4 printers, we can complete the same order in just a few days. However, by tying up more printers, we also have to turn down potential new customers for the duration of your print. So we don't encourage this option unless you are really tight on time.

DIFFERENT RESOLUTIONS, COLORS, OR MATERIALS

$30 Per Change

Each time the color or material is changed, we need to source that color/material combination if we don't already have it in stock. Sometimes, we have to order a niche color (such as transparent green TPU) for a particular job & that color never gets used ever again. Also, each time we change the nozzle to print in a different resolution, we have to manually relevel the build plate to 1/100th of a mm precision at every contact point & print calibration tests. For these reasons, each change in resolution, color, or material is an extra $30 per change.

OVERCLOCKED SERVICE

OVERCLOCKED SERVICE = 2 x Normal Price

Sometimes there are deadlines. And people let you down. We get it. We’ve all been there. And we are willing to occasionally take on stressful jobs ignoring weekends, holidays, the limiting notion of day & night, & showers (if capacity permits). That is to say, if we don’t have much else going on at the moment, we might be insane enough to pop some energy drinks & take one for the team.

3D MODELING

 We offer 3D modeling & 3D render services because being a local 3D printing service, we naturally also offer CAD design & CAD drawing for local CAD inventors. For example, we can 3D design homes or 3D design room and then use our large 3D print service to make a physical large architectural model of that CAD file. Most of the 3D modeling requests we’ve gotten, such as the 3D design of a simple prototype object, are actually extremely straightforward & take less than an hour of CAD drawing.

 We offer photorealistic 3D render services & also cheap videogame graphics 3D render services to 3D design homes & 3D design room. We also offer 3D render services to generate previews of 3D printed models, simulate 3D printing materials before committing to 3D printed parts, visualize CAD files into stunning 3D designs, & bring to life your prototype objects CAD designs for CAD inventors & prototyping companies.

MODEL MAKER

We are a model maker & specialize in 3D printing models. We are an architectural model maker & tradeshow scale model maker that 3D print models we meticulously assemble & paint (among all sorts of other 3D printed models). In fact, we got into 3D printing in the first place because we were delighted to find out that with 3D printing, we can 3D print as many dungeons & dragons models as we wanted. We are especially good at prototype object models because we built & painted countless scale models of tanks, robots, & airplanes for over two decades.

PROTOTYPE MANUFACTURING

Our 3D print service uses various types of 3D printer filaments to 3D print STL files. We 3D print wood & also offer 3D printing carbon fiber, among other more conventional materials for 3D printing such as PLA, PETG, TPU, & ABS. We can also effectively 3D print silicone because we are a silicone mold maker. From these 3D print materials, we can make all sorts of 3D printed parts limited by only your imagination from the CAD model. If you like the design, we offer prototype manufacturing at a large discount to our regular 3D print price.

3D PRINT PRICE

HOW MUCH TO 3D PRINT?

To be honest, I don't know if 3D printing is the "future." But I do know that 3D printing is a lot like plumbing. Consumer-grade 3D printers are really cheap nowadays. Almost as cheap as pipe wrenches. But in plumbing, having a pipe wrench is a necessary but far from sufficient condition to fixing a broken toilet. In fact, most of our customers actually have 3D printers themselves & still use our 3D print service. This is because 3D printing is really hard & labor-intensive. Just like physically replacing a toilet. But unlike pipe wrenches, 3D printers constantly break down & need replacement parts & servicing.


By specializing in just one 3D printing technology & by running our business from our garage (so that we don’t have large payroll liabilities or expensive office leases), we really try to optimize for the best 3D print price possible for a local 3D print service in Irvine. Additionally, we also disentangled labor (fixed cost) from material (variable cost) so you only pay for the exact factor of production being used & in the exact quantity. For a new 3D print service request, it takes an average of 2 to 6 failed prints to get a good print. Each iteration cycle takes a lot of time on the computer & also manual labor to dry the filaments, print calibration tests, & dial-in dozens of slicer parameters. So we charge a fixed cost of labor for each new order + the variable cost of material usage by grams.
